| Over a year ago we introduced seafood. People may have been caught off-guard at first, and it took a while to catch on, but now seafood is a flourishing category at Oppenheimer’s.
Many customers wonder why they’ve never seen a seafood delivery truck outside. It’s because we shop for everything ourselves, swinging by the Fulton Fish Market on our way in to open the shop. And, just as with our meat vendors, we’ve developed the same personal and professional relationships with the top fishmongers in New York. Blue Ribbon Seafood, Alaskan Feast, Clearwater Seafood, Beyer Lightning Seafood and Wilkisson Fish all know we have the savviest customers in town and provide us with the best in both seasonal and staple sea fare.
We have been helped in no small measure by Jose Correa former manager at the late, great Jake’s, who came aboard with us this past spring. He’s brought us tremendous product knowledge, quality assurance… and yet another great guy to talk to behind the counter.
We may be a small shop, but we still stock a meaningful variety of hand-cut filets and steaks, most of it cut right before your eyes, plus mammoth scallops, fresh-never-frozen shrimp, shellfish, mollusks and more. And if you don’t see it, we can usually get it for you the next morning.
We also make our own crab cakes, seafood burgers, kabobs and other marinated or dry-rubbed, pan-ready entrees. Come in or call up and check out our seasonal catches and daily specials.
